Farrow Rib Stitch
This month we are discovering new rib stitch patterns. This week’s square is the farrow rib pattern. It’s quite simple like most rib stitches. The farrow rib stitch is thick and stretchy reminding me a lot of a brioche knit stitch.
The farrow rib pattern is worked over 3 stitches and is a nice replacement for the knit 2, purl 1 rib stitch. The texture is great and works well with scarves, gloves, hats. I’ve worked the swatch above with 3 1 stitches. If worked over 3 stitches only it will look a little different but it’s still nice.
This farrow headband pattern below is cute and perfect for Autumn. I’ve added a few more patterns using this fun fast farrow stitch for you to try below.
We can’t forget fido with this cute little farrow rib stitch doggy sweater. Now if I could find a pattern for my daughter’s Great Dane/Mastiff mix. Unfortunately, this pattern is not free but just look at that cute little face. He makes me want to knit one and I don’t have a dog.
The farrow rib stitch is a quick and versatile stitch. Great for reversible and stretchy projects. It has a wonderfully masculine appeal which makes its great for the fellas. Try this stitch for free with square 19 of the 52-week sampler afghan knit-along. Have fun and let me know if this is a keeper for your favorites list.
